Funerals
Losing someone close to you is a painful time. At St Andrew’s we like to be able to stand with you as you travel through bereavement and offer God’s peace.
In the Church of England, every corner of our land is covered by a parish church is here to look after you. Anyone who lives within our parish boundary, or has a special connection with our church, may have their funeral held at St Andrew’s church.
As a family member approaches death, please get in touch with us if they would like prayer with anointing, sometimes called, “the Last Rites.”
At the time of death we will be pleased to work with the funeral director of your choice to arrange a Funeral Service in church or at the Crematorium. A member of the clergy will visit you to offer a listening ear and to discuss the service. For some people, a Requiem Mass or Memorial Service may be appropriate. Just ask.
After the funeral, if you wish, a member of our pastoral team will visit you so that you can continue to receive the support of your local church.
Each year, on the Sunday nearest to 2 November, we hold an All Souls Day Service of Remembering, to which all the families who have received funeral ministry from us in the last three years, and others who wish to attend, are invited.
